Early afternoon I've got a kitchen appointment with Nicki and Murray Hewitt. Not the Murray Hewitt from Flight of the Conchords fame, "I've told you. When you are in a band, you don't get with your bandmate's girlfriend. Past or present." But the builder and joiner who is putting my kitchen together. He knows his stuff and has a slight sense of humour. Keeps it real when you're spending a fortune on installing the most important room of the home. So much detail. We finish by looking at cupboard and drawer handles. I'm sure our forebears had it a lot easier. I'm nearly at decision fatigue. On the way I've chosen a front door handle. Yay.
Back at the house, Peter the plaster art expert has arrived to size up the plaster arch between the entry and the hallway. It's a bit technical and Cam gets advice on prepping the space so Peter can attach the arch. It's all beyond me, I just direct personnel. Like I've done this all my life. It's beginning to feel like it.
At the dinner table Kahu shares his purchase of the day. We love them.
