Nail Holes and Neighbours

Today's mission is to speed up the interior painting by helping out. I have to intermittently prise Kahu out of bed to get over at a decent hour to help. It's school holidays, mid winter, and he's a teen. What can I expect? We get there and my first job is finding a double plug. I knock on doors around the neighbourhood and eventually go to Placemakers. Now difficult to get to because of road work remodelling for the a new motorway connection. They have cut off side roads and options to turn. I fear the business will fold because access to is virtually impossible. A conclusion confirmed by a salesperson.
Eventually back on the job, Lance lends Kahu and I tools, gives Kahu a lesson on filler application and off we go. I vacuum dust out of the bigger holes. There's paint and filler and closed windows and I start to wonder how painters do this for a living. I couldn't. Before we leave I finalise the front door red- Devil's Cloak. Crisis on arrival home- the temperature gauge is on red at H. Shit. I've run the radiator dry, and the coolant container. The engine smells hot. I'm hoping I haven't cooked the engine.
