Car Trouble

I'm out the door early to drive to Holland Suzuki to ask for some help. This I don't get. They don't look at the car and tell me I'll need a new one. It has 320,000 km on the clock but is this where it all ends? In shock I drive away, stopping at Pak'n'Save on Moorhouse to collect my thoughts in the frozen vege aisle. It doesn't work and I'm still taking in the news I will need several thousand more dollars, which I don't exactly have, when I get home. There's a double rainbow. I'm hoping this is an auspicious sign.
Early afternoon I head across town. I stop in to see Pete and Hana to check on the laundry, and drop off freshly baked fruit cake. They've got it under control and enjoy the diversion. The shop is still cut off by road works, and drop in business is dead. I arrive at College Ave and ask Lance's opinion about the Suzuki. His second interest is cars and I know he'll have ideas. He suggests I get the radiator checked and knows a good place to go, says I couldn't have driven this far if the engine was munted. Fingers crossed. I can't afford another car at the moment.
The boys are on site digging holes for the verandah. They're making good progress and tired but manage to start on the front before day's end. I wait for Rue who is doing the ventilation system so we can review the placing of the vents. Lance wants them all cut out before he starts painting the ceiling. I wait and wait but Rue doesn't show or call. Odd as he's so reliable. I drive carefully home.
