It's the second week of the holidays. One more week when I do only one job. I'm on site at 7:45 to meet Rue's boys, the heat ducting team. Like Lance, they can't understand why I need the ducts cut out now. On Lance's guidance, these holes need to be carved out before the ceiling is painted. If there's a mistake, the entire ceiling has to be painted again. That's costly and time consuming. The boys sign in, I haven't seen anyone do that for ages, but we're still living with Covid even though we're distanced from it. Mathew is in charge and I check the options on repositioning some of the vents. They've all been positioned according to trusses and what else is in the ceiling, and air flow. Seems the vent in my bedroom needs to be centre lengthwise. I don't like its visibility, but agree. I spend most of the day not feeling great about the 250mm plastic cover which is going to be the centre state in the ceiling, but try to resign myself.
Lance's Holden ute has broken down so he's away for the day which gives me time to get Lance from Instant Installs back to reposition the plastic in the bathroom and laundry ceilings. Again, they're planned for spots where the plastic will be centre stage. I'm keen to mitigate.
Back home, Kahu is just getting up. I drag him with me in the afternoon to get fresh air and help with garden tidying. Some grumbling but he wields the rake and garden fork. Rene calls to check positioning of the kitchen down lights. He's working off the Lighthouse plan but essentially that means two more holes. And another in the shower. It'll take some getting over.
The media is putting out that today is the worst day for Covid world wide. It's going gang busters in the US, notably Florida. Here in New Zealand we've got 25 active cases and no-one in hospital.
