Corbels, Tiles, Old Friends, New Friends

I meet some Invercargillites on site who want some of my leftover corbels. Mother and daughter from South Africa living in Invercargill. They're going to use them round pillars. I show them the house. They get it. Nicki wants help looking at tiles for her house. It's small pay back for all the help she's given me. I'm not sure if she's much further ahead when I leave but her house is coming on. It's Saturday and there's a plasterer at work.
I work on my garden which is need of winter tidying. Today in the sunshine I absorb vitamin D, it'll take a while though. Kahu's sleepy after a night out but agrees to come up the hill to see old friends. At home again we watch old rivals Crusaders play the Blues, Auckland's team. Our team comes out on top. It's cold but I get in the car to go to the 60th of a friend of a friend, someone I don't really know but I appreciate the invite. We know people in common. As it turns out I know most of the people there. By this age everyone knows everyone. Circles within circles, ever inward. My addage for a while has been, "Don't burn your bridges." We party, eat, in Covid times we're lucky. It's somewhere outside.
