The Funeral

It's Chris's dad, Bill's, funeral today.
But before I get there I've got a lot to do. I deliver plumbing to the house so Gary can start the pipes, then arrive late to an early school meeting. I drive back to the site after period 1 to meet Gary and go over the plumbing. I give him a folder of specifications and Nicki's plans for rooms with plumbing. Rene's on site to continue with wiring. I've got an A3 copy of the lighting plan and Finlay arrives with another copy. Sousa from Wanaka rocks up. She looks over the house, curious after seeing the plans. As she leaves she tells me Mercury is in retrograde, don't sign any contracts. Too late. I signed the NK contract for the new kitchen window while teaching this morning. I thought it looked too expensive. They added on a fee for installation. I go back to school and send an e-mail querying this and venting some frustration at the lack of communication from their side over the course of the job.
On the way to the funeral I drop in at the house to see if there's anything else that needs attention. The boys have got it under control. I arrive late at the church and get the last seat. At the back. It's a lovely service with funny stories from the kids and the whole paints the picture of a very fine bloke.
I head over the hill to Taylor's to chill before my last Te Kura Trust meeting. I've been a PTA representative for the past five years. Never missed a meeting. The Trust manages funds donated to Christchurch Boys' and provides grants to the school and the boys. There's a good nest egg which needs to be carefully managed and it's been in very capable hands since I've been on board.
I play half a game of volleyball then head home for funeral drinks at Chris's. It's been a massive day for one and all.
