Down south in Fiordland, there are 70 walking tracks closed till they can be checked after the rains. I check taps, wash off in the sea, then collect paint from Nicky. She gets trade price and if there's one thing you don't want to be doing, it's paying retail for anything to do with building. There's a two or even three tier price system where muggins who walks in and buys on their own behalf is charged half again what tradies pay. Outrageous and unnecessary. Goes against my egalitarian principles. I have a union card which gets me discounts in some places placing me in the middle of this pricing structure.
The closing off of the verandah roof allows me to reach the fascia against the house. My goal is to get this done and arrive at CBHS in time for my penultimate PTA meeting. I'm nearly out the door, finished that phase of my life now Kahu has grown out of school. I figure if I get to the staffroom by 7:45 I'll catch some of the meeting. But they finish early and I arrive in time for the after meeting chat.
At least I'm reading for painting tomorrow. Dinner is five Roses chocolates, a corn cob and garlic bread. Chris's mum offers me a sherry. Too much pic'n'mix. I prepare fruit for a fruit cake- food for the combined birthday weekend camping at Journey's End. By the time I wind up at 11, I'm exhausted.
