Today is meetings, tea breaks, korero, and connection. I get one call from Kirk to check on lighting under the verandah. Wiring needs to be organised if I'm putting it in. But I'm going with minimal. There's a lot of spill light in cities and I'd rather light candles to create ambiance. It would be good to take advantage of celestial light too. Bring back the stars!
We get through union business efficiently and I head down Onepu Road for another dip. The wooden houses are old school: leadlights, corbels, interesting front doors. I saunter slowly. The rain and southerly catch up with me. By the time I get to the beach it's horizontal but not cold. Soothing. Still, I'm the only one around. The sea is a mill pond.
We go to a cafe down the road for a noisy dinner. Joviality bounces off the walls in direct proportion to the amount drunk. Three of us get a ride home with a union mate and persuade her to go round the airport. It's a crazy maze of roads and traffic arms and we're laughing uproariously by the time we pull up to the Brentwood. A few bar stories and I'm nodding off again. My hectic life is tiring me out.
