We have to wait till 4pm to hear when the alert level will change. I'm working all day on the computer. Stressed in the morning as I feel overwhelmed by the prospect of sorting out the online platform. But I do what I can. And it will work. It's 12:15 when I notice the time. My brain is not used to continuous use and my eyes are not used to continuous screen light. I finish off to hear the government announcement but I'm the phone ordering a case of red wine when it comes. First thing I've bought online since the lock down started. The TV is on and I hear Jacinda say it will be another week, the Tuesday after Anzac weekend. That buys us a few more days. She says the worst thing we could do would be to yo yo between levels. She's right. We're all in this together. I bike to see Sherry to chew this over. After dinner I have more screen time on a PPTA zoom call to discuss the implications for teachers. Schools will be open but only children of essential workers should go. But full school opening in level 2 is only three weeks away. All going well. I'm fine with this but there are mixed feelings. Three weeks in lock down and we're not used to socialising in large numbers. Suspicious even.
Last, but not least, Simon Bridges, chair of the Epidemic Response Committee. Uncertain future as leader of the Opposition because he just can't say the right thing when he needs to step up.
