Easter full moon |
Global total of corona-virus cases, 1.612 million, 96,783 dead. The European Union pledges 500 billion euro recovery fund, not enough the European banks say. New York is digging a mass grave in the Bronx and the UK is losing close to one thousand people a day. The total number of deaths in the UK is 7,978, while the total for New York is 7067. Our daily case number increased, 49, but the number of active cases is roughly unchanged. The second person to die is a 94 year-old woman in Christchurch. Mandatory quarantine is now happening here, and Boris Johnson is out of ICU.
In Cashmere it's autumn and I head off on my bike. I bump into, not literally, Nic who lives across the valley then her sister, Jen. I have a long distance chat to Robyn at her place. Someone walked into her garden and stole her phone last week. As I ride back I explore. It's Easter and people are keeping their spirits up by well wishing signs, many by children and I'm guessing they are linked to the Great Easter Bunny Hunt.
I bike to see Sherry for another long distance chat and see another two I know. Teachers who used to work at Pap High. I also bump into Naomi and Alex. A couple of virtual chats to Kahu. It's been a very social day.
