The Slab Revealed

I get out the door early and breakfast in the staff room. I've got marking to catch up on and put my head down. My lessons for today are based on Coronavirus. How much we know. Turns out, not a lot. By and large the kids don't think it's dangerous but definitely believe they will need time off school. Optimists all.
Back at College Ave, Rene and Reuben have been wiring but no-one is there when I call in. Except for the eaves, the scaffolding is off. I walk inside to see what it feels like. It's lighter, freer, spacious. More like the house I will live in. I like it. I need to get to CDK Stone before 4:30, in traffic, to see the quartzite slab I've been waiting for. It looks just like the picture. I'm stoked. But I can't buy it or even find out the price. I have to send a bench plan to a stone processing company who will put the order in.
There's a nor wester and it's hot. I cook a stir fry then Chris and I drive to Taylor's. At 7:30 the sun casts a golden light on the hills. The water is fresh. So good.
