It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good but the rain in Central Otago at this time of year is heart breaking. Cherry picking should be in full swing, instead everyone is sheltering from a deluge. It's raining on and off on the drive south and there's a constant stream of northbound traffic. I've never seen so many vehicles coming the other way. When I arrive in Central I realise it's weather related. No-one likes camping in a down pour, especially with swags of kids. And I've never seen Fir Close flooded before. I park around the corner and check on Lynette who is brooming out her excess water. Central Otago at this time of year used to be hot, dry with the aroma of pine needle oil in the air. Climate change strikes again.
