Lynne, the Ceramicist, and the Wanderlust Book Seller

I start with Marketplace- some emptied book shelves, and the wall unit. Both rimu. I look at them and regret I sold the kauri chest of drawers. It was part of my family history and a genuine antique. 18 years of use at 22 College Ave, and years somewhere else before. My only consolation, the man who bought it for his 7 year old son respected the age which made it a solid piece with a life of its own.

The only item which broke in my move is a piece of ceramics I bought from Lynne Wilson. She described me as her first groupie, after my third purchase, and me stalking and finding her in the pottery workshop at Cromwell Old Town. When I contact her about fixing the chip, she's receptive and I visit her at home where she's setting up a studio/workshop. She does landscape consulting so I'm dying to see her garden. It's raining again which is heart breaking for the cherry harvest. I drop in to the art shop at Cromwell Old Town where I've made a chatting mate, Chris- visits I used to do while Lionel was sitting in the car taking in the lake and passing tourists. I've bought a couple of pieces from him. He's happy to see me and we talk art.

Late afternoon sees the very honest and upfront bookseller from Wanderlust in Alexandra visit to choose books from those we don't want, to sell in his shop. He offers half of what he thinks he'll get, $300, and says if anything extra comes in he'll contact us to pay the difference. Great way to do business. He's Canadian and we chat about his move and his life in the area. Turns out he's married to the daughter of good friends of Tui and Lionel's. Two degrees of separation once more.
