It takes all day to pack- me organising boxes and Arthur and I putting them in the L.J. Hooker trailer. In between I pickle the walnuts.
I've organised an early afternoon time with Arthur to come and pack the trailer. He's late then calls then is late again. Arthur time. And Arthur packs in a very special way... wrap, cloths, cardboard and ropes. He's particular. The focus is intense and I get drawn in to the meditative rhythm of draping, wrapping, draping, wrapping, tying down. I slow, chill, watch, offering hands to carry, hands to hold wrap. Time ticks by, on, and on. At last Arthur looks at his watch. 6pm and he has to be at the movies in two hours. That speeds him up. But only a bit. An hour later I remind Arthur of his film date and we decide to call it quits. We've got the big stuff in the van, protected and secured. I wake myself in the lake.
