Teacher and Worker Appreciation Day

TGIF and, just to make our day, the students are doing appreciation. I get messages, I'm guessing it's from my Year 13's but there's a random one too, and 'cool' features as a descriptor. I'm happy with that. At lunch time we throw sponges at students in the stocks- I take aim at a girl who was supposed to be in class but is avoiding her speech. Then get retired from throwing cos I keep kicking over the bucket.

Pre-school, Kevin is setting up as I drive past. Today is driveway day. The beginning of the end. He's happy in his work, doesn't get appreciation from the road cones though. I suspect cones are similar to shopping trolleys...always on the move, in the way and hard to move. At the end of the day, Kahu and I tidy the back- Kahu on dirt, me on stones. That is till the concrete guy applies throat grating chemicals to seal the crete. The smell is acrid, permeating the lungs so we leave when he approaches the mowing strip round the back verandah. He isn't wearing a mask. I over worry about construction workers and their inattention to health and safety. It seems that the nastiest products are most effective and nobody cares about the long term effects on humans. At least Pete is wearing a mask as he sands the toilet seat.
