Anjie, the Lifesaver

Years ago, Anjie was a life saver. Today she provides hope for two issues needing resolution in the Woods household. I need advice on where to cut the stone for the bench top, and Kahu needs a job. Anjie takes the bull by the horns wanting details of dimensions from me, and coming up with a film job for Kahu. That's if her brother, a producer, still needs an assistant. Not solved yet.

In the heat Kahu and I have had a busy day retrieving the rest of the appliances from Noel Leeming in the rickety school van. I've stuffed up the holes with old pillows and sheets. Otherwise the petrol fumes would asphyxiate us. It's a relief for me as I don't have enough muscle power without help. I'm unpacking kitchen paraphernalia when Anjie arrives. She brings wine, olives and cheese. Hard to argue with my first guest at the kitchen island. I feel grown up. I haven't seen a lot of Anjie this year, I used to drop in on her cos she was just down the road and round the corner. Looking forward to being back in my hood.
