John has started the clean up. I'm awake feeling fuzzy and know I'm not going back to sleep so fall out of bed to help. Chris has done a stirling job of tidying up before he retired and there's a row of partly empty wine bottles on the island. Impressive. I'm slow but order is incremental and party chaos slowly disappears. John heads off to meditation so I get on the bike to clear my head.
Will appears and finds Clive's partly empty Drambuie bottle. We all stop. I don't need a top up but Drampers is too good to resist. Armana emerges from her van worried about leaving her cat for too long but life's too short to leave without a cuppa and a chat. Again, everyone finds a job and clean up happens. John takes on the bunting, he sits down to wind it up properly. He's got a penchant for the fake cop hat. In the end everyone drifts off and Kahu and I put our feet on the soil of College Ave. Fiona arrives with a dozen eggs and a thermos of tea. I can't imagine a world without tea. She holds up power sockets as I have to choose between the really expensive, better quality ones, or the cheaper ones which will work just as well. Everyone building a house needs deep pockets.
It's a quiet night and I make the mistake of filling a glass with left over wine. It really slows me down. I try to get to bed early. I know I'm going to feel like I've been through the wringer tomorrow.
