I get some morning errands in... buying lettuces and a tile check- the newly done, definitely green encaustics have arrived....before Enable, the stable cable company, come to prepare my internet connection. Yet more technicians from the Indian sub-continent. I engage them in conversation to find out how they got here and why. Raj studied then stayed. He was married in December to an arranged bride and has only spent 3 weeks with her due to Covid. A weird situation from my perspective. It's melting in the sun but they work without complaint, a plastic box with a glass cable to the side of my house. I guess it's important. How would we live without internet these days? Everything runs through broad band- whatever. Kahu and I garden and tidy. Shelley and Dan across the road, tidy, and Dan slices his spade through a pipe. His dad's a plumber so it's a family fix up. I figure if we look after the place everyone else will too. There's a bloody big pile of dirt to tidy but today it's too hot. The ground is rock hard. We desparately need rain. I'm too tired to push on.
