Day 48- Odds and Ends

I arrive to the drainage team, come to check up on their November work. Lance arrives too, and I leave. I'm teacher on duty in the J bubble and we've moved to the old gym to cohabit with the G bubble. There's one staff member and one student in each. Hmmm...good teaching ratio except they're busy on their computers and we're busy on ours. The air con unit is pushing out warm air with a motor so loud you can hardly hear yourself think. The space is vast so no Covid spread today.
We're there for six hours. Cups of tea, Zoom chats and some work on and off. Basically we're all killing time till school goes back. With the announcement to Level 2 we've slowed down even more. Short timers attitude. Life is so slow we've lost motivation and are barely moving. The wintry weather doesn't help.
Lance , the fan and ducting expert, sends a message he can install on Monday. Phew, we're just going to make it before gibbing starts. A stroke of luck for this building beginner. There's so many pieces to the house puzzle that, even if you know what you're doing, you can miss things. I go from one near miss to another. But so far so good.
A cup of coffee with Lance the painter wakes me up. He's doing an amazing job. The house looks like it belongs in College Ave. Up top Worsley Hill I observe the weather...grey, wintry, dull. A drink or two with Chris perks me up. As does the news, zero new Covid cases today. BBC tells a different story elsewhere. The global total has passed 4 million.
