Today goes like most of others. Eat, drink tea, bike ride, computer work, read, TV, garden. It's ok. Time is passing and the signs are hopeful. Today's new cases are in single figures- 8. There's talk of going to Alert level 3 which means many things but, in my world, the children of essential workers can go back to school. Therefore schools will open. Personally, I would rather be in the building but the news causes consternation from teachers and some public. How to leave social bubbles and keep social distance. Feedback floods in with views on both sides. There will be a fear barrier to get over before we get back to where we were. Social distancing will be impossible in schools. The powers that be, the Ministry of Education, the teacher unions will work it through. I call Kirk to check in on restarting the build. He sounds like he'd rather be back too.
Figures for today: 1086 cases, 816 recovered, 11 dead. At the end of the day Radio New Zealand announces another case revealed by random testing in Queenstown. How many more are there?
