It's the Journey's End weekend for the combined birthday celebration of John, Clive, Will and me. We're all long time attendees of Convergence so the location is easy and feels like going home. It draws other Convergees in too. Strong bonds have developed over time and we're like family. I'm looking forward to having a break from house stuff but it's hectic getting away.
I've got a late start and go for a swim on the way to school. It's cool but the beach is buzzing with school kids. The water is 'warm' but it takes a while for my blood to warm up after. I call in on Sherrill to check plumbing progress. I'm busy at school but leave straight after. I photograph my long time neighbour, Nicky, on her doorstep. Kay is designing a lead light for the garage window close to the front door so am sending it to her.
When I get home I have to gather up food and everything else I need for the weekend. I leave late to pick up Sharyn but we clear town without too many traffic hold ups. It's drizzling and the rain is welcome but fingers crossed for sunshine in the next couple of days.
I put up my tent in the rain and settle Sharyn in Leigh Lodge across the main field. I've forgotten my sleeping bag and mat and rustle up a couple of duvets. We gather with other early birds in Amberley Hall for shared food round the fire. Made it.
